About Josh Strauss

I’m Josh Strauss, a builder and GumGauge co-founder based in Austin, Texas, and Miami, Florida. I’m a sophomore at the University of Austin (UATX), studying economics, politics, and history. Since 2017, I’ve spent nine years in youth human-rights advocacy with B’nai B’rith International.
What I’m building
I co-founded GumGauge in August 2023 and serve as its CEO. It is an investigational concept for chairside periodontal measurement. No hardware or clinical performance data exists; timing, safety, and performance remain unvalidated design targets. The device is not cleared or approved by the FDA, and its premarket pathway remains under review.
I also designed and built Mise, a pantry-first meal-planning app approved for the App Store on iOS, with an Android client in development. My other work includes Giltedge & Co., a pre-seed investor-reporting concept, and personal software projects Jarvis and Edgeboard. The work section has the current details and links.
Background
My advocacy work has included delegations to the UN in Geneva and UNESCO in Paris, as well as a youth mission to Colombia. In 2023, the Miami Herald reported on the Colombia fundraising campaign and the human-rights initiative award I received with Adrian E. Sanchez. I also grew up working events for my family’s South Florida production studio and later built its website.
